The first surprise of the day came early in the day, as JUCO defensive end Sione Vea Kava committed to Cristobal and the Ducks.

Vea Kava was rumored to be strongly considering Oregon, but few were expecting him to commit and sign without being on campus for a visit.

With two recent decommitments on the defensive line, a commit like Vea Kava was crucial for Oregon’s class of 2018.

This kind of commit will help shore up the defensive line, and is one that defensive line coach Joe Salave’a thrived on at Washington State.
