Tennessee Titans Defense Holds Off Jacksonville, Marcus Mariota Playoff Bound
The Tennessee Titans found a way with Strong Offensive Play and Big Defensive Plays to earn their way to a Playoff Berth.
Titans Quarterback Marcus Mariota looked more Mariota-like in the 15-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. With DeMarco Murray out, Mariota used his legs with 10 carries for 60 yards. The Titans finished with over 100 yards on the ground. The Tennessee Defense was effective against Jacksonville Running Back Leonard Fournette who was limited to just 69 yards.
The story of the game was the Tennessee Titans Defense. Tennessee forced four turnovers, two were key momentum changers in the fourth quarter of a one-score game. Kevin Byard pulled down two interceptions in the final 15 minutes to help secure the win and playoff berth for Tennessee.
After a good start, the season for Mariota and the Titans saw adversity, and an injury to their Quarterback, who tried to play through a leg injury. He appeared to be more healthy against Jacksonville than he has for the last two months of the season.
With the win, Tennessee will be in the NFL Playoffs. The season officially resets. The Titans will be on the road throughout and will have to face more experienced teams in New England and Pittsburgh in the AFC. The thought of facing Jacksonville in back to back weeks has also come to mind, but the seeding will have the Jaguars at home against the Buffalo Bills.
