Oregon Basketball: Ducks Face More Experienced Oregon State In Civil War
The Oregon Ducks travel to Oregon State for an important matchup with Oregon State.
Oregon and Oregon State have a few things in common besides their 1-1 Pac-12 record. Both team have relied on their big men early on 2017 and it has paid off. While the Ducks have found success with Troy Brown and Kenny Wooten, Oregon State has leaned on Drew Eubanks who is hitting 67 percent from the floor.
Eubanks has yet to attempt a three-pointer this season and is also second on the team pulling down 7 rebounds per game. Tres Tinkle is also putting up solid numbers and close to 20 points per game. Oregon will look to MiKyle McIntosh and Kenny Wooten to stay out of foul trouble in attempting to contain Eubanks. Paul White has an illness but could also contribute against Oregon State in the Civil War.
The In-State Rivalry between Oregon and Oregon State has always held meaning, but this season with a young Oregon team that is still learning their way, the Beavers are the more experienced team and at home for the first matchup of the season.
"We’re a good team and we’ve got to get it done…We would rather develop winning games than develop losing games because it’s not time to be losing games.MiKyke McIntosh on the Ducks Early Season Struggles"
Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman has guys that can score from anywhere, but entering the game Friday, key players may be out due to illness. Troy Brown and Elijah Brown have played well the last three games, leading the team in scoring. Troy Brown can find the long-range shot from anywhere on the floor.
The Oregon Ducks will need to play better Perimeter Defense and use the Press Carefully. Last season, Altman had the manpower to use the Press effectively. This season, youth and inexperience has led to foul calls and early exits by key players.
