The Oregon Ducks Women’s Basketball team look to their first ever 5-0 Pac-12 Start against Arizona on Friday night at Matthew Knight Arena.
Maite Cazorla stepped up to help Oregon to their first road sweep of USC and UCLA last weekend. Oregon returns home ranked 8th in the country to face Arizona and Arizona State this weekend. The Wildcats and Sundevils are on different ends of the Pac-12 Standings. Arizona has struggled early this season.
The Wildcats are 0-4 in Conference play and 4-11 overall this season. Oregon will not overlook a talented and athletic team on Friday night. Sabrina Ionescu was recently named a Mid-season finalist for the Wooden Award. Ionescu is a one-woman show. As a Sophomore, she leads the NCAA in Triple-Doubles and honestly could add to that total in any game.
Oregon has weapons everywhere on the floor and is building maturity with every game this season. Last year the Oregon Ducks made it to the Elite 8. Arizona has a big challenge ahead to beat the Ducks.
Arizona is averaging 64 points per game. JaLea Bennett is averaging close to 16 points per game. The team won their last non-conference game against Southern Utah. The Wildcats have lost four straight, including a two-point loss against Cal last weekend.
It will be key for Oregon to focus on the task at hand against Arizona and not focus on their Sunday opponent Arizona State. The Sundevils enter ranked 18th in the Nation and also undefeated in Conference play.
