The Oregon Women’s Basketball team will look to remain undefeated in Pac-12 play against Arizona State on Sunday.
Arizona State lost a close game against Oregon State 57-54 on Friday night in Corvallis. For Oregon, the Ducks beat Arizona for their fifth straight win in Conference, starting Pac-12 play 5-0 for the first time. Sabrina Ionescu earned a double-double in the win over the Wildcats.
Head Coach Kelly Graves blueprint from four years ago is in full effect. He has the players he wants in key positions. Ruthy Hebard is a beast inside. Satou Sabally is showing off her talented skillset at the College level after coming from overseas.
Before Thursday, Arizona State was also undefeated potentially meaning the matchup against the Ducks would be an early battle for first place, but with the ASU loss Oregon can extend their stay in first with a victory over the Sundevils.
Arizona State also saw poor shooting on Thursday, but had just four turnovers against Oregon State. Robbi Ryan led the way with 19 points. The Sundevils struggled from three-point range hitting just 28 percent in the three-point loss. ASU is third in the Nation in turnovers per game with 11. This will be key on Sunday vs Oregon. While the Ducks have had success when they have had turnovers this season in finding other ways to win, it may not be as easy against the Wildcats.
ASU has won nine of the last ten meeting vs the Oregon Ducks and would shift the momentum in the Pac-12 with a win. The Sundevils season will flip after this weekend with the team facing Utah and Colorado, two teams they beat on the road to open Pac-12 play.
