Oregon Ducks Shutout Seattle In Home Opener
The Oregon Ducks(5-2) found their Offense early with ten runs in the second inning in a 14-0 win over Seattle.
Oregon has typically done well in home openers at PK Park and Tuesday night was no exception. The Seattle Redhawks pitching staff was no match for the Ducks. It took less than two innings for the home team to take advantage. The Ducks put up 14 hits and scored 14 times with 10 walks on the night.
Spencer Steer got the Ducks going in the first inning. His hit was the only extra-base hit of the game for Oregon. With a healthy lead early, the Oregon Ducks Bullpen got some work in. Freshman Cullen Kafka started the game throwing three innings. He allowed six hits and no runs. He was followed by five relievers with Hunter Breault, Jesse Hobaica, and Brett Walker completing 1-2-3 innings to close out the game with a shutout.
The Oregon Ducks Offense was paced by Steer and Kyle Kasser who combined for five hits, four runs and five RBIs in 10 at-bats. The most recent hot hand Jakob Goldbarb had a hit and a run with an RBI in the single game against Seattle.
The Oregon Ducks are 1-0 at home this season and now 5-2 on the season with a big series this weekend hosting Florida Atlantic University. FAU and Oregon have never met in baseball and will see each other for four games this weekend.
