Oregon Ducks Starter Kolby Somers had his best career start throwing 6.1 innings with no walks.

It was what Oregon needed on the mound to help the team take the series vs the USC Trojans in dramatic fashion. The Oregon Ducks ran the same sequence in the ninth and tenth innings with the game tied at 1. Each inning they used an out to sacrifice the runner at first base over to second base.

The second time it worked. Ryan Soderman hit a walk-off double into deep right field that just hit the tip of the glove of a USC Outfielder. Soderman rounded third and headed for home plate scoring the winning run as the Oregon Ducks won the series 2-1 over the USC Trojans.

The last few weeks have not been easy for Oregon Ducks Baseball. The team had lost eight straight games before the USC Series, and the team knows that now is the time to turn it around.

To further emphasize the struggle, the Oregon Ducks finally plated a run with Somers on the mound after going scoreless for 24 straight innings. It was the Freshman’s second win of the season. It has been roughly a year since Oregon won a Pac-12 Series finale. The team did it last year on May 21st against USC and are now 12-3 vs the Trojans at PK Park.

With Kenyon Yovan moving to the Starting Rotation, Ryne Nelson was the closer on Sunday. He gave up four hits in the ninth and the game-tying run to USC before pitching a perfect 10th inning giving Oregon the opportunity for the walk-off win.
