Oregon Football Recruiting: 3-Star Linebacker Isaac Townsend Commits To Ducks

Oregon Football picked up a commitment from Class of 2019 Outside Linebacker Isaac Townsend during his visit on Thursday.

They say first impressions are the most important and the Oregon Ducks put their best foot forward on Thursday for Isaac Townsend who immediately decided he wanted to be an Oregon Duck. According to Duck Territory, Defensive Coordinator Jim Leavitt was heavily involved with Townsend along with Colt Dennison.

The visit was the second for Isaac Townsend. His visit in April left a strong impression. After speaking with the coaching staff, the Class of 2019 Recruit who plays both Defensive End and Outside Linebacker will focus on the latter in the Oregon Ducks Defensive Scheme.

The Oregon Football Defense is undergoing a dramatic change from two seasons ago when the team’s second level Defense gave up an average of 28 points per game. Last season, the Ducks nearly cut that number in half for the season on average and right now the team is looking toward the future.

In the 2019 Class, the Ducks now have to second level players in Mase Funa and now the addition of Isaac Townsend to the mix. Townsend is the tenth commitment for the 2019 Recruiting Class for the Oregon Ducks as Defensive Coordinator Jim Leavitt looks for the key players and pieces to build the Ducks Defense.

With the addition of Townsend, Oregon has regained the top position for the Top Pac-12 Recruiting Class for 2019. Oregon enters the 2018 season with Troy Dye as a Junior Linebacker along with Jalen Jelks who has found also found his role in the Oregon Football Defense. The Ducks are expecting big things from both Dye and Jelks again this upcoming season.

The 2018 season for Oregon Football is set to begin on Saturday, September 1st against Bowling Green at 5 pm Pacific Time on Pac-12 Network.
