Former Oregon Ducks First Baseman Ryon Healy continued to impress with his bat on Friday night in a 6-4 win over the Kansas City Royals.
Ryon Healy was shipped to Seattle in the offseason and has found a way to make an impact in his first season in Seattle. On the season he has 16 home runs and went 4 for 4 on Friday night continuing to raise his batting average which now sits at .251 on the season. It appears that the Mariners are for real this season after reeling off a 19-9 record for the Month of June. The team is 22 games over .500 on the year.
Despite the positive numbers, there is still work to do and Ryon Healy has brought in his experience at the plate after an impressive second half of the season last year with the Oakland A’s. It has carried over into May and June of 2018 as they continue to chase the first place Houston Astros who lead the AL West by just two games.
Over the last week, Ryon Healy has had 2 runs, hits to go with two home runs, 5 RBI’s and a walk.
As pointed out by Adam Jude of the Seattle Times, the Seattle Mariners are winning the games they should win. Both the Royals and the Baltimore Orioles are among the bottom tier of teams in the American League. While taking the wins they should, the Mariners have a respectable record against teams with an above .500 winning percentage. The team recently lost a series against one of the hottest teams this year in the New York Yankees.
