OT. No. 5 overall. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 56. Penei Sewell. 1

This seems like one of the biggest locks in this year’s draft maybe right behind Trevor Lawrence going No. 1 overall to the Jaguars and Zach Wilson going No. 2. Cincinnati needs an offensive tackle and Penei Sewell is the best that this draft class has to offer.

Despite taking the 2020 season off, Sewell’s stock didn’t take a hit because of how good he was as a freshman and sophomore for the Ducks.

In fact, he was an All-American as a sophomore, first-team All-Pac-12 member, and he won the Outland Trophy. Hee did just about everything an offensive lineman could do at the collegiate level and it only took him two seasons. He was a monster on the offensive line for the Ducks and a major reason Justin Herbert and that run game had so much success in Eugene.

Joe Burrow needs an offensive tackle to protect him for the foreseeable future and it would almost be the biggest mistake the franchise could make if it passed on Sewell — someone who experts have dubbed a “future Hall of Famer”.

The Bengals could also take a receiver here such as Ja’Marr Chase, DeVonta Smith, or Jaylen Waddle, but Sewell is the safest pick at No. 5 overall.
