Everyone who follows Oregon football knows just how good the Ducks could be in 2021. They return one of the most talented rosters in the country and arguably the best in school history, at least on paper.

The Ducks also have a potential No. 1 overall pick in Kayvon Thibodeaux returning as well as a loaded backfield, receiving corps, linebacking corps, and secondary.

Oregon did just lose five guys to the NFL draft but under Mario Cristobal, the team has found a way to reload instead of rebuilding. In fact, the Ducks are fresh off back-to-back Pac-12 titles and they even won a Rose Bowl in 2019. This program is undoubtedly trending in the right direction.

It’s hard to believe that Willie Taggart threw this all away to be the coach at Florida State where he quickly flamed out. But the past is the past.

Cristobal has the Ducks in good shape leading into the 2021 season after a strong spring and Vegas agrees. In fact, they currently have the 11th-best odds to win the national title.

Oregon is tied with North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Florida with 40/1 odds to win it all while Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, and Georgia lead the way (big shocker, I know).

Oregon football has a title-caliber team

For the first time in years, it’s safe to say that Oregon has a roster of guys who could legitimately contend for a national title. We saw Notre Dame get shellacked a year ago in the playoff because it did not have the dogs to compete with Alabama, but the Ducks are bringing in the No. 6 recruiting class in the country and have elite talent at every position.

That’s something Notre Dame couldn’t say.

The Ducks could make people some money in 2021 if they live up to expectations and make a run at the playoff. The opportunity is there, they just need to stay healthy.

Oregon is the Pac-12’s only hope at a playoff berth in 2021.
