We are just a week away from decision day for four-star athlete Jalil Tucker from San Diego, Calif., and Oregon football coach Mario Cristobal has to like his chances.

This past week, the Ducks landed his four-star defensive back teammate Jahlil Florence and you have to think that a package deal with Tucker is not out of the question. Both are defensive backs at Lincoln High School and both had Oregon high on their lists.

Florence got things kicked off with his commitment and Tucker’s scheduled to make his announcement on Aug. 20.

Oregon was already considered the favorite for Tucker but after landing Florence, the Ducks picked up a major crystal ball for the four-star from San Diego.

In fact, 247Sports Director of Football Recruiting Steve Wiltfong placed his crystal ball in favor of the Ducks for Tucker on Thursday and when he makes a prediction, he usually has some pretty good intel. He placed it with a confidence level of ‘6’ but it’s safe to say the Ducks are the overwhelming favorite right now and the Wiltfong crystal ball makes it feel like a lock.

Obviously recruiting is fluid, so anything could happen over the next week, but the Ducks are in a good spot here with Tucker.

Tucker could be Oregon football’s last defensive back pledge

The 2022 class is winding down and there are only about 5-7 more spots open, presumably, and if Tucker does become the next pledge, it will likely close down the defensive backfield for the Ducks.

Florence, Landon Hullaby, and Tucker would likely make up the defensive back class for 2022 and that’s not too shabby for a school that’s already loaded at the position.

Oregon will have to hope Florida State and Washington don’t make up any ground over the final week before Tucker’s decision. But my money would be on the Ducks here.
