Honestly, I’m sticking with my original pick on this even though hearing prominent college football personalities like Rece Davis saying that Oregon will beat Ohio State provides some hope.

CJ Stroud is the official starting quarterback for the 2021 season for the Buckeyes and I think he has a chance to be pretty special for Ryan Day. He may not be Justin Fields right away, but he was a highly-touted prospect in the 2020 class and hopes are high for him. He’s also a dual-threat so he’s going to cause some problems for this defense.

The Buckeyes also have one of the best receiving corps in the country with Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba leading the way so this defensive backfield will have its hands full.

Oregon, too, will have an explosive offense so I can see this being a back-and-forth battle of offenses and it ending with a late touchdown to seal the deal.

Ohio State will score late with a Stroud touchdown pass to Olave all set up by a nice long run by Master Teague. This one will be an instant classic, but Oregon takes its first loss.

Final Score: Oregon 30, Ohio State 34 (1-1)
