Who saw this coming? After coming in at No. 7 in the AP Top 25 this week, Oregon football got some major respect from the playoff committee, earning the No. 4 spot in the playoff rankings.

Everyone was shocked that it wasn’t Ohio State or Oklahoma or even Cincinnati in that No. 4 spot, but that just goes to show how much the committee valued the Ducks’ road win over then-No. 3 Ohio State in Week 2. Couple that with a solid win over UCLA a couple of weeks ago and then some style points added from Week 9’s win over Colorado and it makes more sense.

I still can’t say that I saw this coming.

In fact, in my ‘where will Oregon be ranked?’ post from earlier on Tuesday, I projected the Ducks to come in at No. 7 in the rankings. I was happy to be wrong.

With Anthony Brown playing his best football of the season, Oregon no longer playing down to opponents, and the run game remaining impressive even without CJ Verdell, the sky is the limit for this team.

Oregon will need to win out in order to make the playoff at the end of the year, but the toughest remaining game is this weekend at Washington.

Oregon fans were absolutely hyped to see the Ducks ranked No. 4 in the initial rankings and it was completely unexpected.

A lot of outsiders don’t believe Oregon should be in the top four, but that disrespect is exactly what Mario Cristobal and this team need.
