Chris Henry Jr snubs Dan Lanning and the Ducks after all the drama

With a delayed signing and all eyes in the nation on him, a five-star wide receiver snubbed the Oregon Ducks, signing with one of their rivals.

On National Signing Day, five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. announced that he wouldn't be signing with the Ohio State Buckeyes quite yet. Immediately, everyone started throwing their bets toward the Oregon Ducks, thinking he would flip his commitment between the Big Ten rivals.

Now, two days later, his choice has been finalized, and the highly sought-after prospect has put pen to paper, snubbing the Ducks and signing with the Buckeyes after all.

Yes, all of that drama and fanfare was for nothing, and Henry ended up signing with the team he was committed to anyway. Just an hour before he announced his final decision, national recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong even changed his prediction from Oregon back to Ohio State.

Henry made it official on The Pat McAfee Show, the ESPN talk show run by (in)famous personality Pat McAfee, who is also one of the talking heads on College GameDay.

Chris Henry Jr. breaks Ducks' hearts and ruins chance at history

As the No. 7 overall prospect in the class of 2026 and the No. 1 wide receiver in the recruiting cycle, no matter where the young wideout signed, the team was going to receive a massive bump to its offensive unit.

If Henry had signed with Oregon instead of Ohio State, the Ducks likely would have finished with the No. 1 recruiting class in the country for the first time in program history.

Now, quite literally settling for second-best, Oregon lays claim to the No. 2 class of 2026, only trailing the USC Trojans (yes, the Ducks' long-lived Pac-12 turned Big Ten rivals).

With Henry's signature now on his Letter of Intent to Ohio State, the Buckeyes have virtually cemented their nationally-ranked No. 6 recruiting class, landing them in third in the Big Ten (obviously trailing USC and Oregon).
