Chris Simms owes Dante Moore an apology for infuriating take on USC's dirty late hit

On Saturday Night, the Oregon Ducks saw one of the scariest moments a team could have as Dante Moore was injured on a late hit. The hit that Dante Moore took was disgusting, and one of the dirtier plays you will ever see from USC defensive back Desman Stephens II. Making the moment even more disgusting was the fact that Desman Stephens II, and several USC defenders celebrated while Moore laid injured on the field.

Dante Moore's injury was clearly severe, as he lay motionless for several moments and was carted to an ambulance and instantly taken to LA General Hospital for further evaluation. Literally everyone with common sense knew the hit was dirty except for one of the experts who's paid to talk about the game.

Chris Simms victim blamed Dante Moore with an infuriating take

When the game went to halftime, the NBC Sports panel spoke on the Dante Moore injury, and you would think that the entire panel had the same opinion. Instead, Chris Simms decided to have one of the worst takes of all time, blaming Dante Moore for the injury, claiming he slid too late, and should know better.

Chris Simms didn't have a "soft spot" in his heart for Dante Moore, who was taken to the hospital, but for the defender. Simms cited Moore's size, and said the defender was preparing to take a hit when any replay clearly shows Moore was pulling up and Stephens II had plenty of time to do the same.

Quite frankly, Chris Simms owes Dante Moore an apology, and he may not belong on panels talking about the game if the first person he blames is the quarterback. Stephens II clearly knew what he was doing, and celebrated following the hit, and continued to do so when it was clear that Dante Moore was dealing with a serious injury.

Chris Simms should know better as a former quarterback, and instead, he decided to take a contrarian stance for all the wrong reasons. Simms is likely going to rewatch the hit, and the reaction, and realize how wrong he was, and at that point he should issue Dante Moore an apology for blaming the victim.

The rest of the game now relies on backup quarterback Dylan Raiola, who has all the motivation in the world for this game. Raiola's last game at Nebraska came against USC, as he suffered a season ending injury against the Trojans. Raiola has a chance to rise to the occasion, and quiet all the doubters who have hated on him throughout his career.
