After an incredible rookie season for Bo Nix and his former Oregon teammate Troy Franklin in their first year for the Denver Broncos, the Duck legends might get a boost to their offensive lineup ahead of the upcoming NFL season.

After retiring from the league in 2021, legendary tight end Rob Gronkowski has expressed interest in returning to the NFL and has shared just how impressed he was by Nix in his rookie season.

Currently, Gronkowski is reportedly training in Vail, CO, just a few hours from the Broncos' home base in Denver, and has met with Broncos head coach Sean Payton recently. The former New England Patriot and Tampa Bay Buccaneer won four Super Bowls alongside one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, Tom Brady.

For Gronkowski to compliment Nix's style of play after just one season at the professional level is a massive tip of the cap to the former Oregon QB.

During his rookie season, Nix set records and set the pace for his fellow rookie quarterbacks, which included former LSU and Heisman-winning QB Jayden Daniels.

Bo Nix NFL rookie stats (regular season)

  • 376 completions (66.3 percent)
  • 3,775 passing yards
  • 29 passing touchdowns
  • 12 interceptions
  • 92 carries
  • 430 rushing yards
  • 4 rushing touchdowns
  • 2 fumbles (0 lost)

Bo Nix rookie season notes

  • Most passing touchdown at home by a rookie quarterback in NFL history (19)

Behind Nix's incredible first year in the league, the Broncos saw their first Playoff berth since 2015 and finished the season with a 10-7 overall record and a third-place finish in the AFC West. Adding a superstar such as Gronkowski could be exactly what Nix and Denver need to take that extra step in the postseason next year.
