Former Oregon quarterback Bo Nix was doubted by hundreds, if not thousands, of people as he headed into the 2024 NFL Draft. However, when Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos drafted him and gave him a chance, the former Duck excelled.

In his rookie season, Nix won games and set records. Not only did he quickly earn the role as the starting QB in Denver but he led all rookie quarterbacks in passing touchdowns, total touchdowns, passing yards, and completions.

Not to mention, to cap off his incredible rookie year, Nix led the Broncos to their first NFL Playoff berth since the 2015 season. After his first season with the team, Denver continuously shined a light on just how special the Oregon legend is.

Nix was good if not great and got even better as the season progressed. The former Duck even set two NFL records during his rookie year.

Bo Nix rookie season notes

  • The most games with 200+ passing yards, 2+ touchdowns, and 0 interceptions by a rookie quarterback in NFL history (7)
  • The most passing touchdown at home by a rookie quarterback in NFL history (19)
  • The second-most games with 3+ passing touchdowns by a rookie quarterback in NFL history (5)

Nix was named as a finalist for multiple rookie MVP honors including the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Year (alongside former Oregon running back Bucky Irving) and the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year awards.

All of this goes without saying that Nix played throughout almost half of the season with a fractured back that will require a procedure and subsequent rehab, which led to him declining his invitation to the 2025 Pro Bowl.

Nix is consistently being referred to as Denver's new franchise quarterback and he deserves it after the rookie season that he had for Payton and the Broncos.
