Only five years ago, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning was working under Kirby Smart for the Georgia Bulldogs. Now, it's looking more and more likely that the Ducks' fearless leader will poach yet another blue-chip prospect out from under his former boss's nose.
On Tuesday, March 3, three recruiting experts logged predictions that Donte Wright, a four-star cornerback committed to Smart and the Bulldogs, would flip his commitment to Lanning and the Ducks.
Not only is it a huge move by Lanning to poach another commit from his former boss and the powerhouse program in Athens, but it would be a massive addition to Oregon's class of 2027, which currently rings in at No. 13 in the national rankings.
Donte Wright predicted to flip to Oregon Ducks
Wright is the No. 3 cornerback in the recruiting cycle, and the No. 21 overall prospect, according to Rivals and On3's recruiting rankings. Simply put, everyone in the country has their eyes on him, but it's looking more likely that only the Ducks will be able to bring him under their wing.

That being said, it isn't a done deal that Wright will flip his commitment. The young defensive back has four official visits lined up for this summer, including trips to Georgia and Oregon, as well as visits with the UCLA Bruins and Miami Hurricanes.
Donte Wright official visit schedule
- UCLA Bruins: May 15
- Georgia Bulldogs: May 29
- Miami Hurricanes: June 5
- Oregon Ducks: June 19
Luckily for Lanning and the Ducks, Wright's trip to Eugene is the last one on his schedule, so Oregon has the benefit of truly closing out his recruiting journey with a bang, showcasing everything that the program has to offer.
