Dan Lanning's push for DL Jahkeem Stewart in full force this weekend
By Sam Fariss
On Friday, Nov. 22, five-star defensive line prospect Jahkeem Stewart announced that he would make a trip to Eugene to talk with Oregon head coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks, just one week after visiting the USC Trojans in LA.
Stewart is in the middle of an intense recruiting showdown between the two former Pac-12 programs turned Big Ten teams. As the days remaining in the current recruiting cycle quickly dwindle away, Lanning and defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi are making a final push to bring in the five-star prospect.
The five-star lineman also has tentative interest in his offers from Ohio State and LSU, according to 247Sports, and has visited all four campuses already this year. However, the last-minute visit to Eugene should give Duck fans a sprinkle of hope that their defensive-minded head coach can secure the commitment.
Stewart already visited Oregon at the beginning of October when the Ducks hosted, and defeated, the Ohio State Buckeyes. After the Big Ten matchup, Stewart had high praise for Lanning and his football program.
"I can definitely see myself playing in that type of environment," Stewart said after the game.
On3's Vice President and recruiting expert, Steve Wiltfong, even went as far as to say, "Oregon has a great chance to land Jahkeem Stewart."
Stewart reclassified to the class of 2025 earlier this fall and could join the Ducks as early as spring practices, and the annual spring game. The current recruiting cycle ends on Dec. 1 and is followed by a week-long dead period.
