Dan Lanning and the Ducks received yet another big-time commitment over the weekend when former Tulane and Ole Miss defensive back Jadon Canady committed to spend his final season of eligibility with Oregon.
Over the last four seasons, Canady split his time between the Tulane Green Wave and the Ole Miss Rebels. As a freshman, he amassed incredible stats for the Green Wave and earned his place as a starter for the Rebels during the 2024 season.
At 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds (as listed on Ole Miss' roster), Canady is slightly undersized but could make for an elite addition to the Ducks' secondary at the safety position, especially with former Oregon safety Kobe Savage declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Over the last four years, Canady earned 115 total tackles (80 solo, 35 assisted) and 17 pass deflections. As a freshman, he snagged two interceptions while playing for Tulane, and in 2022, he had a punt return for a touchdown to find the end zone for the first (and, so far, only) time in his collegiate career.
Canady will be joining the likes of senior defensive back Jahlil Florence as well as three-star prospect and sophomore safety Cruz Rushing. Lanning and the Ducks signed five-star cornerback Na'eem Offord, four-star defensive back prospect Dorian Brew, four-star cornerback Brandon Finney Jr., and four-star safety Trey McNutt in the 2025 recruiting class.
To put it simply, Canady adds the veteran experience that the Ducks need after losing stars like Savage, Jabbar Muhammad, and more. He has an incredible opportunity to become a leader and a mentor for future stars like Offord, McNutt, Brew, and Finney.
The Ducks secondary will be talented for years to come and Canady is going to be a massive part of that over the next season.
