Well, things honestly couldn't have gone worse for Dana Altman and the Oregon men's basketball team last season.

Even including some of the Ducks' more impressive wins, Oregon finished the season with an abysmal 12-20 overall record, completely missed the NCAA Tournament, and then watched star players leave for the transfer portal.

However, despite everything that seemed to go wrong, Altman has started to rebuild his program, and the Oregon Ducks are looking as ready as ever for a return to their usual levels of success.

Most recently, Altman received a commitment from former Alabama Crimson Tide forward Taylor Bol Bowen, who entered the transfer portal after averaging 6.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.0 blocks, and 0.5 assists per game, while averaging just 19 minutes per appearance.

Former Alabama big man Taylor Bol Bowen commits to Oregon Ducks

Bol Bowen was a four-star prospect coming out of high school and retained that four-star status when he entered the transfer portal this offseason, his second time in the portal since tipping off his collegiate career.

After two years with the Florida State Seminoles, Bol Bowen transferred to Alabama, hoping to join a team with more success. The Tide had a better season than the 'Noles, but it still wasn't quite what Bol Bowen was looking for.

Now, with one season of eligibility remaining, the 6-foot-10 big man is heading to Eugene to play for Altman and the Ducks.

Bol Bowen is the fifth player to commit to Oregon out of the transfer portal, and the second former SEC athlete to head West.

The big man joined former Kentucky guard Jasper Johnson, former San Diego State forward Pharaoh Compton, former Boise State forward Andrew Meadow, and former San Francisco forward Tyrone Riley in Altman's effort to rebuild his depth chart.

Of course, Oregon saw star players like point guard Jackson Sheltsad, power forward Kwame Evans Jr., and six other former Ducks head to the portal this year.
