Trailing 14-0 in the second quarter Rams quarterback Matt Stafford finally did the smart thing and threw the ball to all-time leading Oregon receiver at tight end Terrance Ferguson.
The newlywed from Littleton, Colorado hauled it in for 21 yards between two defenders, good for a first down as the Rams scored three plays later to make it 14-7. It was Ferguson's first regular season catch as a pro.
They should have kept throwing to him as Los Angeles lost 26-23 at home to fall to 3-2, losing to division rival San Francisco, who've started 2025 4-1. Cornerback Deommodore Lenoir racked up six tackles for the 49ers.
Terrance Ferguson woke the entire Rams offense up with this catch. Insane way to introduce yourself to the league.

After Ferguson grabbed a 33-yard pass in a preseason game against Cleveland, Rams coach Sean McVay said,
"I have a lot of confidence in him not to just be a receiving tight end, but a complete tight end. In the receiving stuff, I thought it was cool."
At Oregon Ferguson became the Ducks' all-time leader in receptions by a tight end with 134, good for 1,537 yards and 16 touchdowns, also a school record for tight ends. First team All-PAC-12 in 2023, the Rams took him in the second round this April after he ran a 4.63 40 with a 39-inch vertical leap at the NFL combine.
