The Oregon Ducks hosted official visitors for the first time this past weekend as college football's busiest recruiting period kicked off. Coming into the weekend, Oregon currently holds the Nation's 9th ranked recruiting class, which will need to change if Dan Lanning is going to continue his streak of signing top 5 classes.

While it wasn't the biggest group of visitors for the Ducks, Dan Lanning was able to get several top targets back on campus while also hosting several commits which is always good for recruiting new pieces. Among the targets on campus, none may have been bigger for the Ducks than elite edge rusher KJ Green.

KJ Green is saying the perfect things after Oregon official visit

This spring, Oregon was able to get KJ Green out to Eugene, which proved to be big for the Ducks' efforts as Green then set an official visit with the Ducks. This weekend, Oregon needed to make another big impression as the team looked to continue their surge in this recruitment. Leaving the weekend, it sound like the Ducks had an outstanding weekend, and made a major impression on Green.

After an official visit weekend, you like to hear that a recruit was impressed, and that questions were answered. Hearing that Oregon didn't set the bar, they broke the bar, and shattered every expectation is about as high of praise as a program could get from a recruit. While other schools are going to get the ensuing official visits, Dan Lanning and the Ducks are now the standard.

According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, KJ Green is a 4-star recruit, ranked as the 48th ranked player in the country, the 8th ranked edge rusher in the class, and the 3rd ranked player out of Georgia. If Green were to commit to the Ducks, he would just edge out Will Mencl, who ranks 49th as the Ducks' top ranked recruit.

If Oregon is going to win out in this recruitment, the Ducks are going to need to hold off several SEC powers. South Carolina has seemed like the front runner, but Alabama, Georgia, and LSU have all remained a factor and will get official visits from Green.

Adding KJ Green to this recruiting class would be a major win for the staff as they continue to build up this recruiting class. The Ducks already have an elite edge rusher on board in Rashad Streets, while 3-star athlete Sam Ngata could factor into the future plans as an edge rusher. Landing Green would give the Ducks the elite level athlete at the position who can help replace all the veteran talent the Ducks will lose this offseason.

Over the next few weeks, Oregon will now hope that KJ Green either commits and shuts down his recruitment or that he doesn't have the same level of experience on another visit. Green is one of the Ducks' biggest outstanding targets, and he has all the potential to become a 5-star recruit after his Senior season.
