Another big-time transfer target has included the Oregon Ducks in his final programs under consideration. Former Florida State wide receiver Malik Benson, who started his collegiate career at Alabama, entered the transfer portal following his season with the Seminoles.
Recently, Benson shared with On3 that he had narrowed his search to just three programs, including the Oregon Ducks.
Alongside the Ducks in Benson's final three schools are the Kansas State Wildcats and the Tennessee Volunteers. Tennessee made an appearance in the first round of the College Football Playoffs where the Vols lost to Ohio State. The Wildcats finished their season 9-4 overall with a win over Rutgers in the Rate Bowl game.
Benson, who just finished his sophomore season, earned 311 receiving yards and 1 touchdown for the Seminoles on just 25 receptions. During his freshman season for the Crimson Tide, Benson had 11 receptions for 162 yards and 1 touchdown. Throughout his collegiate career, the wideout has also earned 2 rushing yards and 3 yards on punt returns.
The wide receiver is originally from Lansing, KS – less than two hours away from Manhattan where the K State Wildcats are based.
As a prospect, Benson was the No. 1 wide receiver and the No. 1 overall athlete in the 2023 high school recruiting class, according to 247Sports.
Benson entered the transfer portal on Dec. 23, 2024, after a highly disappointing season for the Seminoles, in which they finished 2-10 overall. He has yet to share when he will announce his final decision for his next landing spot.
