A four-star edge rusher from Cherry Creek High School in Green Valley Ranch, Colorado, 6-3, 245 Blake Purchase has left the program after three seasons at Oregon, a redshirt sophomore with two seasons to play.

Purchase played in all 15 games for the Ducks in 2025 after redshirting last year. In 35 career games as a Duck he posted 39 tackles and 7 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks. He smothered Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton for a sack in the 23-0 Orange Bowl win.

His decision brings Oregon's transfer portal losses to 17 after Luke Moga and Zach Grace also joined the exodus out of town on Sunday. In a way the Ducks are a victim of their own success, an attractive brand that draws interest from other schools for the quality of athletes they have on their bench.

Portal grows more frenzied with a week to go till it closes for most programs

So far Dan Lanning's players have found new opportunities at Oklahoma (Dakoda Fields,) Missouri (Jahlil Florence,) Brigham Young (Kyler Kasper,) Cal (Kingston Lopa,) and Houston (Makhi Hughes.) Practice tape and game film in an Oregon helmet increases these players' value. Coaches want guys with the talent, quickness and competitiveness the program signifies.

Players have until January 16 to enter the portal, with an extension for athletes from the two teams in the College Football Playoff final. Once in the portal players can remain until they are offered a new scholarship. Many never obtain one. For as much as 40 percent, the portal becomes a black hole instead.

At edge rusher, the Ducks still have hope of starters Teitum Tuioti and Matayo Uiagalelei running it back for another year. Nasir Wyatt flashed tremendous potential as a true freshman. Tobi Haastrup has freakish athletic ability. At last check, Ashton Porter and Elijah Rushing are still in the program.

In the 2026 class the team added five-star pass rusher Anthony "Tank" Jones from Alabama, plus hard-working Dutch Horisk from St. John Bosco. The standard of athleticism remains high.
