The Oregon Ducks earned their top-10 ranking in the first College Football Playoff ranking of the season, but the road ahead is far from easy.
Because of the Ducks' upcoming matchups, college football analyst Joel Klatt doesn't think that Oregon has cemented their place in the Playoffs.
Oregon football November schedule
"The team that I think has the most difficult month of November, outside of Texas... Oregon," Klatt said while discussing which teams could fall out of the top 10.
- at No. 20 Iowa Hawkeyes, Nov. 8 at 12:30 p.m. PT
- vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. PT
- vs. No. 19 USC Trojans, Nov. 22, time TBD
- at No. 23 Washington Huskies, Nov. 29, time TBD
"Oregon has a ridiculously difficult November," Klatt continued. "Of all the teams in the top 10, the team that I think is actually most likely a game, or maybe even two, is Oregon, and I think very highly of Oregon, and Dan Lanning, and that staff, and that team."
Klatt went on to say that he doesn't think it's likely Oregon will lose a game, and that the Ducks will probably even be favored in their last four regular-season matchups. However, he pointed out that the Huskies "own" Oregon in Seattle and the road game at Iowa will certainly be far from a cake walk.
His argument makes sense, especially when looking at the rest of the teams in the top 10, including the undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes, Indiana Hoosiers, and Texas A&M Aggies.
First 2025 College Football Playoff Top 10
- Ohio State Buckeyes
- Indiana Hoosiers
- Texas A&M Aggies
- Alabama Crimson Tide
- Georgia Bulldogs
- Ole Miss Rebels
- BYU Cougars
- Texas Tech Red Raiders
- Oregon Ducks
- Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Now, the BYU Cougars or Texas Tech Red Raiders will undeniably have at least one more loss on their record, as the two Big 12 teams face each other this weekend. However, the rest of the teams could easily win out until they have to play in their conference's championship game (or head straight into the Playoffs).
Will Oregon fall out of the CFP Top 10 with a tough November?

So, with Oregon facing three top-25 teams over the next four games, it makes sense that the Ducks would be the most vulnerable program in the top-10 rankings. The message? Lanning, Will Stein, Tosh Lupoi, and the entire Oregon roster need to bring their A-game the rest of the season.
This weekend, the No. 9 Ducks will face the No. 20 Iowa Hawkeyes at 12:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, Nov. 8, in Kinnick Stadium. The ranked Big Ten matchup will be on CBS.
