The Oregon Basketball team entered the offseason needing to significantly overhaul the roster after a dismal season. The Ducks finished the 2025-26 season with a 12-20 record going just 5-15 in Big Ten play, marking the first losing season for Oregon under Dana Altman. After such a disappointing year, there were big changes expected, but the amount of roster turnover is drastic.

The only returning player for Oregon is center Sean Stewart while key pieces like Jackson Shelstad, Kwame Evans, and Nate Bittle depart. The roster for next season is almost complete with 8 transfers and 3 freshmen signed on to play with what looks like a much deeper roster.

Where does Oregon appear in Jon Rothstein's updated rankings

On Sunday, Jon Rothstein released his updated "Rothstein 45," where he ranks the top 45 teams in the country. Checking in at 36th in the rankings were the Oregon Ducks, which would place the team 12th in what looks to be a loaded Big Ten.

Interestingly, Jon Rothstein expects Kentucky transfer Jasper Johnson to start at Point Guard over Boston College transfer Fred Payne with Tyrone Riley, Dwayne Aristode, Taylor Bol Bowen, and Sean Stewart rounding out the starting 5.

The biggest takeaway with this roster should be that this will be a much deeper roster than Dana Altman had at his disposal last season. Players like Jasper Johnson, Andrew Meadow, Pharoah Compton, Jerry Easter, and more all can come off the bench and give this team impactful minutes which will be key.

The factor that could swing the roster is how much of an impact Tajh Ariza is able to provide as a true freshman. Last season was dominated by elite freshmen, and if Ariza can play his way into a big role, it'd give the Ducks another key piece to count on.
