After going just 12-20 last season with a 5-15 record in Big Ten play, the Oregon Basketball team was set for a busy offseason. Dana Altman will look to return to the NCAA Tournament next season, and he's turning the entire roster over. The Ducks return just one player from last season, and the pieces coming in are incredibly exciting.

Dana Altman has landed 8 transfers after signing 3 high school recruits to give the Ducks a much deeper roster than we saw last season. After landing Fred Payne and Dwayne Aristode this week, Dana Altman's starting 5 for 2026-27 appears to be in place.

Projecting Oregon's starting 5 after two key additions

On Wednesday, Dana Altman made a splash reeling in Boston College point guard Fred Payne to lead the Ducks' offense. The Louisiana native took a massive leap this season starting 30 of 31 games, scoring 15.8 points per game with 2.7 assists per game, and a low mark of just 1.4 turnovers per game as the starting point guard. With the offense Altman put around Payne, he should be able to maintain his high level of play against the elite talent in the Big Ten.

The crown jewel of Oregon's transfer class is easily San Francisco transfer Tyrone Riley who ranks in the top 100 of most rankings. Riley had a nice bump in production as a Sophomore, especially with his 3 point shooting where he hit 36.8% of his shots this season. Altman added a ton of 3-point shooting with Riley which should be a strength with a solid point guard in Fred Payne.

Dana Altman's latest commitment came on Thursday night when the Ducks picked up Arizona transfer Dwayne Aristode. This season, Aristode saw limited action as a freshman for Arizona, but he brings a ton of upside as the 22nd ranked player in his class out of High School. Aristode will bring an exciting blend of size and athletic ability to pair with 46% shooting from 3 which could make him a breakout candidate this season.

After an impressive 2024-25 season at Florida State, Taylor Bol Bowen spent this past season at Alabama where he was expected to become a star with his 41.3% mark from 3 in Nate Oats' offense. Bol Bowen had a fine season, but he was streaky for the Crimson Tide looking like a superstar at times, and struggling at moments. If Altman can get Bol Bowen to play more consistently, especially now that he won't have to play as much center, it could be a home run for the Ducks.

After spending a season at Duke and Ohio State, Sean Stewart will finally get to return in the same system as he heads into his second season in Eugene. Stewart is the lone returnee for Dana Altman after starting 23 of 32 games last season. Becoming a more effective rebounder would be massive for Oregon with all the 3 point shooting Altman added in the back court and on the wings.
