Dana Altman has been busy this offseason, almost entirely reloading his roster following the departures of most of his starting lineup and a few key bench players.
Now, with five blue-chip additions from the transfer portal and three commitments coming to Eugene from the class of 2026, the Oregon Ducks are rebuilt, and it looks as though Altman's squad could be ready for a resurgence next season.
Most recently, Altman added former Alabama Crimson Tide power forward Taylor Bol Bowen, who committed to the Ducks just one day after the transfer portal closed. With Bol Bowen on the roster, Oregon's starting lineup has officially taken shape:
Oregon men's basketball projected starting lineup
- Guard: Jasper Johnson (Kentucky)
- Guard: Drew Carter (returning) or Takai Simpkins (returning)
- Forward: Tajh Ariza (freshman)
- Forward: Tyrone Riley (San Francisco)
- Center: Taylor Bol Bowen (Alabama)
Altman plucked two elite transfers from the SEC: Bol Bowen, from Alabama, and Jasper Johnson, from Kentucky, both of whom could easily slide into Oregon's starting lineup at the center and point guard positions.
Yes, Bol Bowen is a true power forward, but at 6-foot-10 and 202 pounds, he would be one of the taller and larger players on Altman's roster, likely slating him to play most of his minutes in the paint.
Also from the transfer portal, Altman will likely utilize former San Francisco forward Tyrone Riley as his starting power forward.
Returning for Oregon are guards Drew Carter and Takai Simpkins, who will likely rotate with Johnson at the PG position as well as starting in the shooting guard role.
Last, but certainly not least, the Ducks' highest-rated incoming freshman is four-star small forward Tajh Ariza, who will most likely step into a starting role right away or just a few games into the season.
Oregon's other true freshmen are going to be four-star center Kendre Harrison (who is just 6-foot-7) and three-star small forward Seven Spurlock. Not to mention, the Ducks could still add five-star small forward Tyran Stokes to their class of 2026.
While there are still six or so months until the 2026-27 season tips off, Altman's team is starting to take shape once again, and that's thanks in large part to his work in the transfer portal so far this offseason.
