Last year, everyone learned Kenyon Sadiq's name as he excelled during his sophomore season for the Oregon Ducks. Then, he hurdled a defender for a touchdown against the Penn State Nittany Lions to help the team win the Big Ten Championship.
That was all it took for all eyes to be on Sadiq as the Ducks entered the 2025 season and their second year in the Big Ten.
However, it took just one big-time play in Oregon's Week 3 matchup against Northwestern for the commentators, Joel Klatt and Gus Johnson, to compare Sadiq to a future NFL Hall of Fame tight end: Rob Gronkowski.
Yes, you read that correctly, Johnson and Klatt compared the 20-year-old Oregon tight end to the four-time Super Bowl-winning tight end Rob Gronkowski.
Is Kenyon Sadiq the next Rob Gronkowski?
Oregon fans, and even supporters of other programs across the country, can't deny that Sadiq is a great tight end. In just the first two and a half games of the season, he has already earned 95 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
His pass blocking and soft hands make Sadiq an elite player to have line up on the offensive side of the ball, but GRONK?!
For starters, Sadiq is just 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds. Gronkowski, on the other hand, is 6-foot-6 and 265 pounds. Yes, they share similar skills on the field, but it isn't to the same degree, at least not yet for the young tight end.
There's just no guarding Kenyon Sadiq 💪

Here's another look at his TD route for @Oregonfootball @ATTBusiness pic.twitter.com/MiGKtObEl3
Last year, Sadiq finished the season with 308 yards and two touchdowns. In Gronkowski's "worst" season in the NFL, he finished the year with 682 yards and three touchdowns.
Sadiq has a bright future ahead of him; that's undeniable, but it isn't time to compare him to one of the all-time greatest tight ends quite yet.
