Four-star athlete and the No. 1 center in the nation, Mouhamed Sylla, announced his final five schools on Tuesday, Dec. 17. Among the top five programs were none other than Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks.
Earlier in the month, Altman received his first verbal commitment of the season from class of 2025 guard JJ Frakes which brought a lot more attention to the Ducks' recruiting class – especially as the one-loss squad continued to soar in the rankings and moved up to No. 10 in the nation.
Alongside Oregon in Sylla's final five schools are the Washington Huskies, the Kansas Jayhawks, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Originally from Mexico and raised in Scottsdale, AZ, Sylla surprisingly did not include the Arizona State Sun Devils who gave him an offer earlier this year. Even more surprising is the fact that Sylla has yet to receive an actual offer from Georgia Tech or Kansas despite including them in his final list, according to 247Sports.
Despite not receiving offers from the Jayhawks or Yellow Jackets at this point, Sylla took official visits to both campuses in October of this year, followed shortly by visits to both Eugene and Seattle in November to check out the Ducks and the Huskies.
Standing at 6-foot-10 and 240 pounds, Sylla is a dominating presence in the paint and would make a perfect replacement for Oregon's current star center Nate Bittle once he moves onto the next level.
On3, another one of the top recruiting sites in the nation, lists Sylla as having received offers from both Georgia Tech and Kansas and actually has most experts projecting the star center to land with the Yellow Jackets next season.
