Shock and awe were not in the vocabulary for any fan or critic of Oregon football on Tuesday night as the second edition of the College Football Playoff rankings were revealed between Champions Classic games.

Following the conclusion of No. 1 Kansas' 77-69 win over Michigan State on the hardwood, ESPN hosted its playoff rankings show and, to no one's surprise, Oregon remained No. 1.

The Ducks didn't exactly impress this past weekend against Maryland and still ran away with a three-touchdown win, but they know they have to be better if they want to hold that spot. There are still two regular-season games remaining and the toughest comes this weekend against Wisconsin at Camp Randall.

Obviously the Ducks kind of had to remain No. 1 because, well, they hold the head-to-head victory over Ohio State but the committee is very high on the Buckeyes. While Ohio State can't get one of those coveted first-round byes with Oregon at No. 1 (as of right now), it's hoping for a rematch in the Big Ten title game which would likely have No. 1 vs. No. 2 written all over it.

The winner of the Big Ten title game will likely be the No. 1 overall seed in this year's College Football Playoff and that's huge for the conference especially with all the love the SEC gets.

It almost feels like a lock that the No. 1 seed will be from the Big Ten.

Oregon will have to take care of business against Wisconsin this weekend and end the season with a revenge win over Washington, but it feels like the Big Ten title game will be the showdown of the year.
