Before the 2025 baseball season ever began, the Oregon Ducks were the lone Big Ten team ranked within the Top 25 of numerous polls. Now, after two series wins, the same holds true.

The Ducks, who started the season ranked No. 14 in the nation (on average) before the season began, have moved up just two percentage points in their average ranking, according to Baseball America, Perfect Game, D1Baseball, NCBWA, and the coaches poll.

So far this season, Oregon has lost just two games while winning six to secure the wins in its first two series of the year. In both series, the Ducks claimed a 3-1 victory over their opponents, the Toledo Rockets and the Rhode Island Rams.

Now, the Ducks will face the Columbia Lions in their third home series of the season – another four-game matchup. Following their series against the Lions, the Ducks will have just one more game (against Utah Tech) before they face their first Big Ten opponent of the year; the USC Trojans.

Through the first eight games, none other than senior Jacob Walsh and second-year transfer Mason Neville lead Oregon with 11 hits apiece and 25 combined runs. Star sophomore Maddox Molony joined Walsh and Neville in double-digit hitting with 10 hits on the season.

Junior pitcher Ian Umlandt, from Sherwood, OR, has already earned two wins so far this year while allowing just eight hits over 9.1 innings. Sophomore pitcher Collin Clarke has shut out every opponent he has faced through his first 12 innings of the season.

The first pitch for Oregon and Columbia's first game of the series is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. PT on Friday, Feb. 28. The game will take place at PK Park and be broadcast on B1G+.
