The month of June couldn't have gone much better for Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks on the recruiting trail. In total, the Ducks used their 4 weekends of official visits to land 8 commitments, bringing the class to 21 commitments. From landing highly touted 4-stars in Dakota Guerrant and Toa Satele to making upside bets on 3-stars like Lex Mailangi and Josh Christensen, among others, the class looks drastically different.
The lone complaint some fans would make, which wouldn't be fair, is that they'd wish for more elite pickups. The good news for those looking for the Ducks to add big name commitments, their wish should come true in the first few days of July.
Oregon is poised to add 3 major commitments in July's first week
While the official visits are over, the run of commitments should only continue for the Ducks over the next few days. Rivals is launching a new event this year with the Rivals Summer Signing Day on July 1st, and Oregon should be the biggest winner of the event, as everyone expects the Ducks to pick up a pair of commitments.

The first recruit to watch for the Ducks on July 1st is offensive lineman Gecova Doyal who will pick between Oregon, UCLA, Utah, and Washington. The recruitment has seemingly come down to Washington Vs Oregon, and the Huskies appear to be the leader coming into the day as the Ducks have built out the offensive line class.
The Ducks will likely land their first commitment of the day when elite cornerback recruit Tae Walden Jr picks between Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Oregon. Coming into the final weekend of official visits, it looked like Walden was going to attend a SEC school, but the Ducks made up a ton of ground in his recruitment and are seen as the new leader.
Tae Walden Jr is an elite athlete at the high school level, ranking as the 70th ranked player in the country, the 3rd ranked athlete in the class, and the 4th ranked player out of Tennessee. Walden will likely play cornerback at the college level, and his size and athletic ability will give him a chance to make an impact early.
Following Tae Walden Jr's announcement is another top cornerback and top Oregon target, Hayden Stepp. Coming into the Summer, 4 teams were left in the race for Hayden Stepp, but it quickly became a battle between the Ducks and Alabama. Oregon got Hayden Stepp onto campus, and by all accounts, the Ducks crushed the visit, making them the top team heading into commitment day.
Hayden Stepp fits a similar athletic profile to Tae Walden Jr at 6-foot-3 and 175 pounds as a lengthy cornerback. Stepp ranks as the 44th ranked player in the country, the 7th ranked cornerback in the class, and the top player out of Nevada. Oregon has had a ton of success recruiting players from Bishop Gorman, landing 5-star safety Jett Washington last cycle.
After the two expected commitments to start the month, Oregon shouldn't have to wait long to pick up another recruiting win. Elite 5-star wide receiver Xavier Sabb set a commitment date of July 3rd, where Oregon will once again be the team expected to land the commitment. Sabb has one of the most exciting athletic profiles in this class, and he'll also have a chance to find early playing time.
Coming into the Summer, Dan Lanning and the Ducks needed to go on a serious run if there was going to be any hope of keeping the streak of signing a top 5 class alive. The Ducks went on that run during June, and now, with the big names expected to come off the board in July, this class should quickly start to fly up the rankings.
