Analysis: Ducks operating on a different wavelength
Scott Reed of Ducks Sports Authority offers a final perspective on the spring game in his "Thursday Roundup" column.
"What kind of team is Oregon becoming? What kind of team does Dan Lanning want this to be?" ----------Scott Reed
"Oregon isn’t just trying to win football games. It’s trying to build something permanent."
Thursday's feature is not behind a paywall, and worth reading for observations on Dante Moore, Dillon Thieneman and others.
Ducks add Aussie punter from Down Under
Within days of a subpar punting performance in the spring game, Oregon added former Boise State punter James Ferguson-Reynolds from the transfer portal, a Ray Guy finalist in 2023 who averaged 49.7 yards per punt.
It's a great move for Dan Lanning and special teams coach Joe Lorig, provided they keep redshirt freshman kicker-punter Gage Hurych, who nailed field goals of 47 and 54 yards in the spring game, the 47-yarder to the top of the uprights.
Post-spring skill depth chart revealed
Autzen Zoo's Liam Donnan breaks down the skill position depth chart after spring practice, the first in a series. He names the starting quarterback and sorts out the rotations and receiver and running back.
"Schematically, we can expect the Ducks to reduce their usage of 13 personnel (one running back, three tight ends). The room is not deep enough or experienced enough to comfortably put that set on the field, especially at the rate they did last year." -----------Liam Donnan

The Oregon coaching staff is out on the trail trying to close strong prior to June official visits. Tosh Lupoi and Chris Hampton visited five-star cornerback and 10.38 sprinter Brandon Arrington of Mount Miguel High School in Spring Valley, Calif.
