Ducks begin tune-up for College World Series chase
Oregon's Big Ten Tournament opener begins today at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, and it's been moved up: The Ducks will play MIchigan State at 3 p.m. PT, televised on the Big Ten Network.
A forecast of inclement weather precipitated the change.
The tournament itself is a bit of an anticlimax. Oregon and UCLA each got a trophy for sharing the regular season title at 22-8, the all-league teams have been announced, and it's a complicated pool play format with single elimination in the trophy round.
How it does matter is this: Oregon is currently projected as an 8-seed for the NCAA Tournament next week and would host a regional. An 0-2 week in Omaha could drop them down, while a strong performance cements their tournament seeding while maintaining the momentum they've built finishing the season with a 10-game winning streak and 14 out of 15.
The Ducks' starting rotation of Grayson Grinsell, Collin Clarke and Jason Reitz is the strongest in the league, and Oregon leads the conference in home runs with 107.

Rylee McCoy shares heartfelt message after brutal injury
In the NCAA Regional win over Stanford, Oregon first baseman Rylee McCoy took a line drive to the face. Bleeding profusely, she had to be helped off the field with designated player Stefini Ma'ake taking over at first.
McCoy led the Ducks in home runs this year with 19, a team record for freshmen, named to the All-Big-Ten first team.
Wednesday she shared a message with Oregon fans in advance of Oregon's Super Regional with Liberty, a best-two-out-of-three series that begins Friday, first pitch 7 p.m. PT at Jane Sanders Stadium, televised on ESPNU.
Oregon football recruiting: 4-star quarterback target gets Elite 11 invite, schedules visit
Fast-rising 2026 quarterback prospect Matt Ponatoski has been named an Elite 11 finalist and win visit the Ducks in June. The 6-2, 190 dual threat QB from Moeller High School in Cincinnati received an Oregon offer on May 7.
Ponatoski passed for 4,085 yards and 56 touchdowns last season. He's also an elite prospect in baseball, a .400 hitter with a 97 mph fastball who plays shortstop on his off days. He wants to play both sports in college, something that makes Oregon an attractive landing spot.
