Pro Duck Spencer Steer clubbed a 397-foot homer in the eighth and doubled in the seventh in the Cincinnati Reds' 6-1 win at Arizona Sunday night.

It helped the Reds avoid a sweep in Arizona and evened their record on the current nine-game road trip at 3-3. The club sits third in the National League Central at 68-63, a game and a half behind the Mets in the wild card standings. For Steer, it was his 18th double and 16th home run of the year, snapping him out of a 1-18 slump.

From Millikan High in Long Beach, California, Steer played for the Ducks from 2017-2019 and batted .349 as a junior, First Team All-PAC-12. Drafted by the Twins in the third round in 2019, he's been in the big leagues since 2022, hitting 23 and 20 home runs in 2023 and 2024, a 5-9, 185 first baseman.

Back on June 30, he hit three home runs in a game for the Reds against San Diego, part of a 12-for-23 stretch.

Oregon women's soccer tops Rainbow Warriors in Oahu

Goals by Sydney Chura, Carly Cormack and Cailin Bloom propelled the Ducks to a 3-0 win over Hawaii in the Outrigger Soccer Kickoff as the team reached 2-1-1 on the young season.

Goalkeeper Caeley Goldstein and the Oregon defenders have allowed just one goal all year, in a 1-0 loss to Sacramento State. They host New Mexico at Pape Field on Thursday, 6:30 p.m. PT on Big Ten+.

Under new coach Tracy Joyner, they opened the year with a 4-0 whitewash of Weber State. Conference play begins September 13 at UCLA.

Former Duck quarterback Robby Ashford gains starting nod for Wake Forest

After stints at Oregon, Auburn and South Carolina, Robby Ashford earned QB-1 at Fall Camp for the Demon Deacons, a 6-4 four-star from Hoover, Alabama who signed with the Ducks in 2020.

Curiously, in his college career Ashford has thrown 11 touchdowns and 9 interceptions over three seasons, an exact match in productivity to new Oregon starter Dante Moore at UCLA.
