Oregon Ducks fans were treated to a weekend filled with action that kicked off on Thursday Morning. A major weekend in golf gave the Ducks fans a chance to root on former Oregon Golf star Wyndham Clark, and once he jumped out to a lead on Thursday, it gave everyone a chance to follow him into the weekend. Wyndham Clark's run at Shinnecock distracted everyone from the sports teams recruiting.
The Oregon Baseball team is still trying to navigate the Transfer Portal after a nightmare week for Mark Wasikowski's program. Dan Lanning spent his weekend trying to continue his impressive run on the recruiting trail.
Wyndham Clark's major win overshadows recruiting weekend for Oregon
Wyndham Clark wins second career US Open
On Sunday Afternoon, former Oregon Golf star Wyndham Clark won his second career major, winning once again at the US Open. Clark started his tournament off perfectly, shooting an opening round 64, which gave him more than enough cushion to hang on for the rest of the weekend. The story of Sunday was Wyndham Clark battling a crowd that was clearly crossing the line, and hitting several big shots down the stretch to secure the Claret Jug.
Clark's journey to this point is worthy of a movie at this point, and Oregon being a part of it is truly special. Wyndham Clark's college career started at Oklahoma State, but after falling out of the Cowboys lineup, he ended up in Eugene for his Redshirt Senior season. Clark regained his form at Oregon, winning Pac 12 Player of the Year, and is now among the best in the world.
Oregon Baseball's transfer exodus quiets down
After such an awful week for the Oregon Baseball program, this weekend was quiet, which was a major relief. Oregon lost Angel Laya, Junior Lauaki, and Burke-Lee Mabeus to the Transfer Portal early in the week, but the weekend didn't bring any more departures. This week should bring news on where the trio is heading, but hopefully all of the departures have been announced.
While Oregon has lost a ton, Mark Wasikowski and the coaching staff have been making some additions. The overwhelming theme has been Oregon rolling the dice on smaller school prospects, and players coming off down years, which makes sense as the Ducks appear to be on a budget next season.
Oregon Football hosts final weekend of official visits
This weekend marked the final weekend of Official Visits for the Summer as the recruiting dead period kicks off. As of Monday Morning, Oregon hasn't landed a commitment yet, but the hope will be that the Ducks can continue adding to this class. The biggest targets on campus were WR Xavier Sabb, DL Brayden Parks, LB Brayton Feister, and TE Anthony Cartwright III.
