Oregon Ducks receive crystal ball for former Louisville TE Jamari Johnson
By Sam Fariss
The Oregon Ducks aren't going to have their star tight ends Terrance Ferguson or Patrick Herbert after this season – they'll either head to the NFL, another professional league, or another post-collegiate route but their careers are done for the Ducks after this year.
However, with sophomore star Kenyon Sadiq lighting up field against Penn State in the Big Ten Championship, Oregon fans are hopeful for the future of their tight end room. Now, the Ducks might gain yet another talented TE from the transfer portal.
Redshirt freshman tight end Jamari Johnson recently received a crystal ball prediction that he would transfer to the Ducks from 247Sports' Greg Biggins.
Johnson, who played for Louisville in 2024, brought in 13 receptions for 163 yards and 1 touchdown for the Cardinals – averaging 12.2 yards per catch. The former Cardinal redshirted his true freshman season and will have three years of eligibility remaining after the 2024 season.
Johnson was originally recruited by the Ducks when he was a high school prospect in 2023. However, despite Oregon being in his final four schools, the tight end picked the Louisville Cardinals over the Ducks, the Pittsburgh Panthers, and the Cincinnati Bearcats.
Now, the 6-foot-5, 265 pounds tight end is eyeing the Ducks once again – especially with the success that head coach Dan Lanning has found with the No. 1 team in the nation.
The winter transfer portal officially opened on Monday, Dec. 9 and it will close on Saturday, Dec. 28. The spring transfer portal does not open until mid-April and is open for about two weeks.
