Oregon fans go berserk for huge Kobe Savage hit against the Maryland Terrapins
By Sam Fariss
The Oregon Ducks started off relatively slow against the Maryland Terrapins. In other words, the No. 1 team in the country hadn't built up a 20 or more-point lead over its opponent.
However, as Maryland drove the ball in the second quarter, defensive back Kobe Savage blew up Roman Hemby for a crowd-awakening tackle. While the Terps ended up scoring at the end of the drive, the big-time hit by Savage stirred the beast that is the hom crowd at Autzen Stadium and fans went wild.
Please, keep in mind, that the hit was perfectly clean. Savage just didn't slow down as he approached Hemby. In fact, Savage basically blew right through the Maryland running back. Immediately, Duck fans flocked to social media to share their reaction for the big-time hit.
In the first half alone, Savage had five total tackles for the Ducks. The transfer from Kansas State was expected to be a massive contributor on defense and he is living up to the hype so far.
Through the first nine games of the Ducks' season, Savage amassed 38 tackles, one fumble recovery, and one pass deflection for Oregon's stat book.
While Savage will be eligible to enter his name into the NFL Draft at the end of the season, many Oregon fans are hopeful that the powerful defensive back will stick around for at least one more year.
Throughout his collegiate career, at Kansas State and Oregon, Savage had earned 153 total tackles, 6 interceptions, and one forced fumble heading into the Ducks' game agains the Terrapins.
