The main focus for the Oregon Ducks at the moment is recruiting as college football has reached the most pivotal point on the recruiting calendar. This past weekend brought the first group of official visitors to campus as Dan Lanning and the coaching staff look to bolster the recruiting class. The main priority for the coaching staff is currently the 2027 recruiting class, but it's not the only focus.
While the 2027 recruiting class is at the forefront, this is also an important time for recruiting the 2028 class. Building relationships with recruits early is pivotal, and could make or break a recruitment in the long run. This week, Oregon is hosting several future recruiting targets including a potential 5-star quarterback.

The Ducks offered Josiah Boyd a scholarship in May 1st, and quickly became a school to watch in the recruitment. After the Ducks offered Boyd his scholarship, he declared that Oregon has been his dream school, and that the offer means a ton to him.
"Oregon has always been my dream school since I was young so this one means a lot to me."Josiah Boyd
According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, Josiah Boyd is a 4-star recruit in the 2028 class, ranked as the 61st ranked player in the country, the 5th ranked quarterback in the class, and the 4th ranked player out of California.
Thus far, the Ducks have cast a wide net with quarterbacks in the 2028 recruiting class with 15 reported offers to recruits. While the Ducks have offered a ton of QBs in the class, the staff will eventually set it's board, and make a player a clear priority which could end up being Boyd.
Boyd is a dual-threat quarterback who's showcased impressive arm strength throughout his High School career. While Boyd will continue to develop, he's shown all the tools to become an elite quarterback at the next level.
Following up landing Will Mencl with Josiah Boyd would continue an absurd recruiting tear at quarterback for the Ducks. Bryson Beaver signed with Oregon last cycle before transferring to Georgia while the Ducks landed Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele and Akili Smith Jr in the class prior before JKS left for Cal.
Oregon has done an outstanding job identifying top quarterbacks early, and getting them to sign with the Ducks. Boyd's recruitment will be the next fun story for Oregon fans to follow as he could keep an elite pipeline flowing.
