As Spring practices around the Country have started to wind down, the biggest focus for schools is becoming recruiting. Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks are already off to an impressive start to the 2027 recruiting cycle holding the Nation's 7th ranked recruiting class. The crown jewel of the loaded 2027 class is easily Rivals' top ranked quarterback recruit Will Mencl.

While having Mencl on board sets the Ducks up with another great young quarterback, adding a QB in each cycle is a great path toward ensuring the team never takes a step back. As Oregon starts recruiting the 2028 class, Dan Lanning and the Ducks may already have the inside track with one of the best quarterbacks.

Josiah Boyd is already calling Oregon a "dream school"

On Friday, Oregon offered 2028 quarterback recruit Josiah Boyd a scholarship making him a player to watch. If the scholarship offer wasn't enough to get Oregon fans interested, Josiah Boyd telling Rivals that Oregon has been a "dream school" should grab everyone's attention.

Anytime that you can start a recruitment with an advantage, it's a great sign for what lies ahead. Considering that Josiah Boyd has grown up loving Oregon, it shouldn't be hard for the staff to sell him on coming to Eugene.

According to Rivals' 2028 recruiting rankings, Josiah Boyd is the 29th ranked player in the class, the 2nd ranked quarterback in the class, and the 3rd ranked player out of California. The Ducks will certainly face tough competition for Boyd, but starting the class with a player like Boyd would only help the rest of the way.

Oregon is building an elite quarterback pipeline starting with Dylan Raiola who signed up to sit behind Dante Moore for a season. Will Mencl could easily follow Raiola, and if Josiah Boyd follows him, the Ducks may not need to worry about landing a starter from the Transfer Portal for a long time.
