The Oregon Ducks are set to open the Big Ten portion of the schedule as the team takes on the USC Trojans. Along with the loss that dinged Oregon's resume in non-conference play, the team dealt with a ton of injuries to start the year, which is expected between camp, and the first games truly getting back into football.

Oregon's roster has taken a hit thus far with several long-term injuries, but it does appear that some of the short-term injuries the team dealt with early in the year aren't too concerning. The Ducks' first Big Ten game shed light on where the roster stands thanks to the league's availability reports.

Oregon Ducks inactive list looks promising ahead of USC game

On Friday Night, the final injury report of the week was released for the showdown against the USC Trojans, and Oregon didn't have any surprises on the list. The Ducks will be without wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan, Running Back Simeon Price, Linebacker Brayden Platt, and Offensive Lineman Trent Ferguson.

Oregon fans found out at the start of the week that wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan would be out for the time being, as Dan Lanning shared that news on Monday. McClellan broke his foot in warmups for the Portland State game, which is a bummer given the potential he's shown. In two games, Jeremiah McClellan caught 7 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown.

The news that offensive lineman Trent Ferguson will be out shouldn't come as a shock to anyone, as he's out for the season. Ferguson suffered a season ending knee injury during the Oklahoma State game after starting for the Ducks at left guard.

Running Back Simeon Price landing on the injury report answers a ton of questions about the veteran Colorado transfer. Price has yet to suit up for the Ducks or travel for road games, but it now appears to be more of an injury issue than anything else.

Sophomore Linebacker Brayden Platt has dealt with an injury that's kept him out dating back to the Ducks' Spring Game.

True Freshman wide receiver Jalen Lott suffered a hand injury during camp, and has yet to make his Oregon debut. The good news on Lott is that Dan Lanning has stated that he's back to practicing, which means the 5-star recruit may be ready to go in the upcoming weeks. Oregon will need to get Jalen Lott ready to contribute as the offense is now shorthanded after losing Jeremiah McClellan with a long-term injury.

The biggest question on game day is whether the Ducks will have either Jamari Johnson or Kendre Harrison available at the tight end position. Johnson has missed the last two games with an injury he suffered in the Boise State game, while Harrison left the Portland State game with an injury. Both can be game breaking weapons for the Oregon offense, and having them in the lineup for the Big Ten opener is critical.

Additional injury updates will be provided when the team takes the field for warmups.
