The Oregon Ducks wrapped up their second weekend of official visits on Sunday, leaving the coaching staff and the fans awaiting the results of the weekend. The first weekend brought a ton of promising developments, including a commitment from linebacker Toa Satele, but two of the recruits Oregon left an impression on have since committed elsewhere.
The goal coming out of the second weekend of official visits was to close out more recruitments than the opening weekend. While there's still plenty of prospects out there for the Ducks, starting to build out the class is important, and the Ducks are already seeing promising results.
Oregon lands in-state TE George VanSandt quickly after official visit
Among the recruits on campus this weekend for an official visit was in-state tight end target George VanSandt. The Portland Native was committed to Arkansas for awhile until the Ducks offered the in-state star, and he backed off his commitment. Once VanSandt reopened his commitment, he quickly set an official visit to Eugene which was promising.
On Monday Afternoon, George VanSandt made it official as he announced his commitment to the Ducks.

The news isn't a major surprise as it pretty quickly became clear that the Oregon Ducks were the team to beat. Oregon held the advantage of being the in-state team who's had a ton of recent NFL Draft success with tight ends, and it proved to be enough to earn VanSandt's commitment.
According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, George VanSandt is a 3-star recruit, ranked as the 1,205th ranked player in the country, the 63rd ranked tight end in the class, and the 2nd ranked player out of the state of Oregon. While VanSandt isn't the high profile recruit the fanbase will fall in love with, considering the staff's track record of development, it's hard to judge their tight end pick ups based on recruiting ranking.
While Oregon isn't the most talented state for High School football, making it hard to judge recruits, on film, George VanSandt shows a ton of athletic ability as a receiver to pair with solid ability as an in-line blocker.
VanSandt isn't the only local product to quickly pick the Ducks as Oregon flipped in-state wide receiver Malachi Garlington away from Washington State on Monday. Oregon will now bring in-state stars Josiah Molden, Garlington, and VanSandt all to campus while remaining in the race for edge rusher Josh Christensen.
The Ducks' class remains the 9th ranked class nationally, but the staff has now secured 16 commitments. The hope for Dan Lanning and his staff after picking up a flurry of commitments will be to start reeling in some major targets. The Ducks have positioned themselves nicely with several top recruits, and this group appears poised to start flying up the rankings.
