After the excitement that was the month of June for the Oregon Ducks on the recruiting trail, Dan Lanning and the coaching staff are looking to keep the momentum rolling in July. As Official Visit has come to an end, top recruits enter decision mode, and the start of the month will see some of the top prospects in the country come off the board.

Rivals is bringing some excitement to the Summer with their new Rivals Summer Signing Day Event. As part of the event, 9 highly touted recruits are announcing their commitments, with Oregon as a finalist for 3 of the players announcing. While you always hope to win out for recruitments, the first of the trio didn't go the Ducks way.

Oregon misses out on 4-star Gecova Doyal in expected loss

On Wednesday Morning, the Oregon Ducks missed on the first of their three targets for the day as 4-star offensive lineman Gecova Doyal picked Washington over Oregon, UCLA, and Utah.

While the Washington fans will get to carry on about how the Huskies beat the Ducks for their class that still ranks outside the top 20, this isn't a major loss for Oregon. Gecova Doyal is certainly a talented player that the Ducks would've liked in this class, as he's ranked as a 4-star recruit and a top 400 player in the country.

Overall, Oregon started to fill out this offensive line class, and other players became bigger priorities. The Ducks entered the Summer with offensive tackles Avery Michael and Cameron Wagner already on board along with interior offensive lineman Gus Corsair. Adding interior offensive lineman Lex Mailangi to the group only made the unit more crowded, thus making offensive linemen less of a priority.

The good news for fans of the Ducks is that Oregon should very quickly get good news to combat any sting of Gecova Doyal picking Washington. Top 100 recruits Hayden Stepp and Tae Walden Jr will both announce their commitments later on, and both star cornerbacks are expected to pick the Ducks, thus making this a potentially great day for Dan Lanning and the staff on the recruiting trail.
