This would be a statement get for Dan Lanning.

After missing out on some big-name recruits earlier this cycle, it looks like the Oregon football team is about to respond with a massive bang. It could prove to be a gigantic few days for Dan Lanning and his coaches, with some top targets set to come off the board.

On Thursday, 5-star EDGE Tank Jones will be announcing his commitment live on The Pat McAfee Show and this is a three-team battle between Oregon, Alabama and Texas A&M. For a little while, it has been assumed that Alabama had the advantage because it's the home-state program.

Not so fast. Multiple predictions have come in for Jones to stun everyone by committing to Oregon on Thursday. The list includes the lone Crystal Ball pick on 247Sports coming in on Wednesday for Jones to let everyone know that he'll be Eugene-bound to play his college ball.

Oregon is now the overwhelming favorite to land 5-star EDGE Tank Jones

We don't have to tell you that this would be incredible news for Lanning and his staff. Again, Jones is an Alabama product, being a standout playmaker for St. Paul's Episcopal in Mobile, which is roughly 3.5 hours away from Tuscaloosa.

Mobile to Eugene is about a 40 hour drive - going to want to hop on an airplane instead for that trip. Texas A&M is also in the mix here, but it seems like they don't have a shot at all in this one. For Alabama, letting Jones leave home would be a huge loss for them, but Lanning could care less about that.

Jones is ranked five stars, the No. 4 EDGE in the country, No. 1 player from Alabama and No. 18 player nationally per the 247Sports Composite. He's got college superstar written all over him and while the assumption was he was going to take his game to the SEC in 2026, it's now looking like he very well could be headed to the Big Ten. We'll find out for sure on Thursday, but things are trending in the right direction for Oregon.
