The Summer has given Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks the recruiting surge we're used to seeing on an annual basis. Coming into the Summer, it was clear that the coaching staff had some work to do as the class left plenty to be desired. Based on the commitments the Ducks have received alone, Oregon has had an impressive Summer.

Landing major commitments from top 100 recruits Dakota Guerrant and Toa Satele help give this staff the elite playmakers Oregon is used to picking up on a yearly basis. Add in smaller pieces from the in-state commits and other 3-star recruits, and there's real depth to this class. After picking up a flurry of commitments, it looks like the tear is only going to continue.

The Ducks are already trending for elite recruits like 5-star wide receiver Xavier Sabb, top 50 recruit Hayden Stepp at cornerback, and several other recruits. Coming off another weekend of official visits, the Ducks' class is expected to pick up another commitment.

Oregon lands prediction for promising California offensive lineman

On Monday, the Oregon Ducks were picked as the front runner for another recruit as Rivals' Greg Biggins and Brandon Huffman predicted offensive lineman Lex Mailangi to land in Eugene.

The Ducks hosted Lex Mailangi during this past weekend's group of official visitors looking to secure their place atop his recruitment. Leaving the weekend with the prediction, it appears that the Ducks have pulled ahead of the likes of UCLA, Cal and USC.

According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, Lex Mailangi is the 709th ranked player in the country, the 54th ranked interior offensive lineman in the class, and the 59th ranked player out of California.

Coming into this recruiting cycle, it was clear that Oregon was going to need to sign a massive offensive line recruiting class. The Ducks only signed 3 offensive linemen last offseason, and while Oregon can continue to add transfers, offensive line is a position where you need to develop recruits from within.

If Lex Mailangi is going to join Oregon's recruiting class, the Ducks will have the framework in place for the type of class the Ducks need to have. Oregon already holds commitments from 4-star recruits Cameron Wagner and Gus Corsair, along with 3-star Avery Michael.

After Mailangi, the Ducks are still in the race for several of the Nation's top offensive line recruits if they can win out in some of these battles. Ismael Camara or Caden Moss could headline this class, while other targets could emerge over the rest of this cycle as Oregon continues to evaluate its recruiting board.
