Baseball has officially returned to Eugene and the Oregon Ducks kicked off their 2025 season with a 3-1 series win over the Toledo Rockets. Despite dropping one of the games, the Ducks dominated on both sides of the bat and sent Toledo packing after their season-opening series.

Oregon, who made an appearance in the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament last season, is the only Big Ten team that was projected in multiple top 25 rankings ahead of the season.

Other than a single home run and an error by the Ducks' defense, Oregon demolished Toledo in the first game of the series. Senior first baseman Jacob Walsh hit the Ducks' only home run as their offense combined for a resounding 12 hits to produce the nine runs.

For the only game in the series, Oregon's bullpen struggled to slow down the Toledo offense as the Rockets earned seven hits and outscored the Ducks 5-3. While the Ducks were able to produce six hits of their own, Oregon repeatedly left runners on base and only found their way home on three occasions.

Oregon baseball vs. Toledo, Game 3 – W, 9-0

The Ducks found the perfect combination from their bullpen as pitchers Ian Umlandt and Jason Reitz combined for a shutout win over the Rockets. Meanwhile, Oregon's offense combined for double-digit hits (12) again as the Ducks defeated Toledo 9-0 to go up 2-1 in the series.

Oregon baseball vs. Toledo, Game 4 – W, 6-1

While the Oregon bats cooled off a little bit during the final game of the series, the Ducks' bullpen was still dominant as they allowed just one run in the matchup. Meanwhile, multiple groundouts by the offense and an eighth-inning homer by Maddox Molony put Oregon up 6-1 to win the game and the series.

The Oregon baseball team and head coach Mark Wasikowski will continue their season with another four-game home series as the Ducks host Rhode Island from Feb. 21 (Friday) through Feb. 23 (Sunday).
