The Oregon Ducks are starting to heat up on the recruiting trail, as is expected with the start of college football's official visit season. This past weekend, Oregon hosted its first group of official visitors in Eugene, and for the rest of the Summer, Dan Lanning and his staff will be looking to stack commitments.

The first weekend of official visits resulted in a commitment from 4-star linebacker Toa Satele for the Ducks, and the hope is that more are on the way. Heading into the second weekend of official visits, it looks like a commitment from one of the planned upcoming visitors is on the horizon.

In-State TE Recruit George VanSandt is trending heavily toward Oregon

Just 8 days ago, Oregon native George VanSandt decommitted from Arkansas just weeks after receiving an offer from the Ducks. The news of the decommitment was already great for the Ducks, and it came with the news that he'd be taking an official visit to Eugene.

As George VanSandt prepares to visit Eugene, it appears that the local product is trending heavily toward the Ducks. On Wednesday, Rivals' Steve Wiltfong and Greg Biggins each logged predictions for the Ducks to land a commitment from VanSandt.

According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, George VanSandt is a 3-star recruit, ranked as the 1,205th ranked player in the country, the 63rd ranked tight end in the class, and the 2nd ranked player out of the state of Oregon. While VanSandt isn't the high profile recruit the fanbase will fall in love with, considering the staff's track record of development, it's hard to judge their tight end pick ups based on recruiting ranking.

Granted, Oregon isn't the toughest state for High School football, but George VanSandt has put exciting athletic ability and solid blocking ability on tape.

The Ducks haven't landed a tight end in this recruiting class, and it may be likely that VanSandt is the only one the staff takes while looking to the transfer portal to keep the room stocked. Oregon has been loading up in the portal with a level of success with tight ends so the High School additions will likely be developmental pieces.

The key for the Ducks now is actually landing the commitment, and this weekend's official visit will go a long way in winning out in this recruitment. The Ducks have the development track record, along with the advantage of being the In-State program, which should be enough to get this recruitment over the finish line.
